Children 'should have input in bed choice'

When choosing children's beds it is best to have the youngster in question involved, according to one commentator.
Writing for online news resource Apartment Life, interiors expert Thomas Pretty notes children's rooms are their "private space" and the right choice of bed can make them "an idyll of relaxation".
He advises that the bed and mattress should be comfortable enough for the child to relax on during the day.
Bunk beds could be a "great solution" to space problems if two children are sharing a room, especially as if beds take up too much floor space there will be no areas the kids can play in.
"By making the bed an appealing place to be, the usual fights that occur at bedtime can be negated," Mr Pretty continues.
It was previously reported that fathers should attempt to spend more time reading to their sons before bedtime.
The government's Boys Into Books scheme aims to get males aged between 11 and 14 years old reading more and advises dads to bond with their offspring over appealing fantasy books and spy novels.
