Children's bedrooms should be "fun and functional"

20/06/2008

Children's bedrooms should be "fun and functional" When designing a children's bedroom, they key is to keep it "fun and functional", according to one commentator.

Writing for online resource Commercial Appeal, Jeanna Freeman asserts that children's rooms should "be cosy and allow for expression of personality, creativity and imagination".

She recommends that this can be achieved by decorating the walls with artwork or fabric wall panels and adding fun details such as a tent which can act as a getaway spot.

Regarding children's beds, she advises making it a comfortable space, with lots of colourful bed throws and pillows.

Ms Freeman also notes that it is useful if children's beds have a dual function, such as storage underneath, a desk or a spare bed for sleepovers.

Pop stars Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale recently revealed to OK! magazine that they plan to decorate their unborn baby's bedroom in a gothic style as they are unsure if they will have a boy or a girl and do not want to opt for pink or blue.
