Phelps looking forward to bed time
18/08/2008
Olympic champion Michael Phelps, who broke seven world records on his way to eight gold medals during the first week of the Games in Beijing, revealed his desire to return to bed.
The American swimmer, who also beat fellow sportsman Mark Spitz''s record of seven gold medals in one Olympics, was happy that he could take a break and named his bed as the first port of call.
Phelps said: "One of the things I really want to do is just lay in my own bed for five minutes and just relax."
The athlete now has the second-most medals of any competitor in the summer Olympics with 16, second only to Larysa Latynina of the former USSR who won 18 medals between 1956 and 1964.
American news provider CNN has tipped Phelps to make a lot of money through endorsements upon his return to the US, with sports lawyer David Harrow saying that he could claim up to $50 million (£26 million) in sponsorship.
