Second bed race to go ahead
20/08/2008
The second annual Fall Foliage Charity Bed Race is set to go ahead this October in North Adams, Massachusetts, it has been revealed.
In a report for local news provider iBerkshires.com, it was confirmed that the autumnal festival will host the hospital bed competition that received positive feedback last year in the American town.
The online resource noted that although only half a dozen teams competed in 2007, the race is set to become much more popular after the only complaint the first meeting gained was that it was too short - at one-and-a-half hours long.
It added that the most entertaining aspect for the crowd was the "pajama exchange", where the racer on the bed has to change bedtime clothing with another team member.
The race hopes to raise money for the North Adams Regional Hospital, with entrants paying $125 (£67) to the charity.
Hamburg, Buffalo also had a bed race, with the town''s mayor Tom Moses Sr describing the event as "rougher than politics", according to the Buffalo News.
