HRT improves sleep quality

New research has found that hormone replacement therapy (HRT) improves the quality of sleep.
Australian scientists based at the Women''s and Children''s Hospital at the University of Adelaide now understand that HRT can reduce certain quality-of-life problems caused by menopause, even if the treatment is used long after the later-life change.
The results of the study were published in the August 22nd issue of the British Medical Journal.
One year after the researchers provided test subjects with HRT, patients reported? "significant improvements" in sleep quality, a smaller number of hot flushes and less sweating than those issued with placebos.
Dr Alastair MacLennan who led the study, said to HealthDay News: "The greatest benefits and least risk from HRT are seen in the 99 per cent of women who commence HRT for symptom relief near menopause."
For those looking for short-term solutions to getting a better quality of sleep during menopause, Stop Aging Now recommended that women take three milligrams of melatonin an hour before bedtime to help themselves.
