Mattress advice for back pain sufferers

Mattress advice for back pain sufferers An American news resource has told consumers three handy hints on what to look for when buying a mattress to alleviate any back troubles.

The Star Telegram of Fort Worth, Texas, has highlighted that contrary to popular belief, a hard mattress is better for your back after it cited a survey by the Back Research Centre in Denmark.

It found that a water bed or memory foam caused less back pain over a one month period than a futon without springs.

The news provider added that wearing loose clothing and removing footwear before testing a mattress is key when choosing, taking ten minutes to rest on one''s sides, back and front.

Furthermore, exchange policies are also good to look for, as an unsuitable mattress may not be detected until several weeks into the purchase.

Also, "pricey extras" are not necessary, with the newspaper adding: "As long as you don’t go home with the cheapest mattress in the store, you’ll be fine."

Online resource Canada.com noted that alongside ageing, wear and tear and posture, obesity and smoking are potential aggravators of back problems.
