Comforters recommended for winter months
17/09/2008
The use of comforters has been encouraged by a writer who cites the increasingly cold weather as a just cause to invest in one.
Online home budgeting website Style on a Shoestring states that comforters are a good addition to the bedroom during the winter months, although many may not want to buy one made from down due to allergies.
Instead, it recommends a range of alternatives such as Primaloft comforters, utilising a hypoallergenic synthetic material which the website states is just as nice as one made from duck and geese down.
Furthermore, wool comforters are recommended for their natural properties, with llama and alpaca wool also noted for its good qualities.
The website continues: "You will still be able to have the warmth and feel of a down comforter without all of the problems or the odour associated with certain natural products."
A report for Canada''s Windsor Star found that alpaca wool has the ability to be warmer than that of a sheep while rivalling cashmere in the softness stakes.
