Platform beds ''need proper mattresses''
18/09/2008
The recent popularity of modern platform beds has been raised as a sometimes problematic issue by a website which noted the wide array of choice available in the mattress market.
Home improvement news resource What is the Ruckus noted that the range available to people could be confusing and the choice demands the judgment of the bed''s structure and shape.
It noted that platform beds are designed in a number of sizes and shapes, with the obvious feature being the "low-profile sleek frame" that provides "no additional space" for a head or foot board.
The website continued: "For wood platform beds, innerspring mattresses are the best option.
"When going to buy a mattress, the most important thing you have to take into account is the measurement of the mattress."
It added that futons could provide sturdiness for the base.
According to Patent Storm, the platform bed frame was granted a US Patent on May 7th 1991.
