Bed pushers unite for good cause

A group of steelworkers from Scunthorpe have completed a ten-mile task to push a bed between their hometown and Brigg in aid of the local hospital, it has been reported.
The team from the area''s Corus plant got together to push the furniture in order to bring together £2,000 for Scunthorpe General Hospital''s baby care unit.
It was noted by the participants that over the last 12 years, the group of volunteers had taken part in a number of activities to raise funds for good causes in Scunthorpe, with the most recent escapade starting on Saturday and passing Santon and Broughton in the two-hour trip.
"Gary said he could push a bed to Brigg so we all challenged him to do it, and we said we would make it worthwhile," contributor Garry Hudson told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
The yearly Knaresborough Bed Race had 67 entrants this year, with the Ripon Runners Boys taking home the gold with a time of 14 minutes and 15 seconds.
