Bedrooms are ''tough to design for kids''
31/10/2008
Stylish rooms for children are sometimes difficult to create according to a bedroom boffin, but help is at hand.
Children''s beds were top of the list of things to invest in when starting a kid''s bedroom from scratch, expert Ben Weissman said.
He noted that creativity was central to design, noting that regular beds were not as necessary as many think as they can limit the potential of a room.
Mr Weissman added that bunk beds always had a great function in rooms that required brothers and sisters to share.
He said: "You have the opportunity to sleep two children in the space of a single twin bed, leaving more floor space for desks to complete school work and dressers where clothing can be stored."
Additionally, beds with storage give the possibility of eliminating the need for toy boxes and dressers.
Baby Centre''s resident expert Penney Hawes said that most children made the switch from cots to beds between the ages of 18 and 42 months.
