Bed bugs ''infest Toronto''
18/11/2008
The Canadian city of Toronto is currently becoming increasingly infested by every bed lover''s natural enemy: the bed bug.
It has been reported that the number of incidents involving bed bugs reported by citizens of the famous city has risen by a whopping 1,000 per cent in the last year.
The City of Toronto authorities reported that last year, 144 calls were made about the bed-based baddie - however, this year the department has seen nearly 1,500 cases already.
In response to the threat, the Toronto Board of Health has made $75,000 (£40,610) available to people hoping to rid their boudoirs of the critters, even though the powerful pesticide usually used to treat the insect has been outlawed by the province of Ontario.
After hearing about the inadvertent popularity of bed bugs in recent news, Kentucky.com recommended that people inspect mattresses and bedding to ensure that the little menaces have not taken hold of their bedroom, adding that seams and behind headboards are also popular locations.
